Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how GuitarHub for Android (the “App”, “we”, or “us”) handles information when you use the App. GuitarHub is a guitar learning and songwriting tool for Android devices, distributed through Google Play, that helps you explore chords, fingerings, and scales, build chord progressions, and play along with built-in accompaniment.
Privacy at a glance: GuitarHub does not require an account, does not operate an account or content server, and does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The App does not use your microphone, camera, location, contacts, or photo library. Your songs, saved phrases, custom fingerings, and settings are stored locally on your device, and chord suggestions are computed on-device.
1. Information Processed by the App
GuitarHub processes the following information on your device to provide its features:
- Musical content: songs and chord progressions you create, saved jam phrases, custom chord fingerings, and chord editor data.
- Preferences: theme, language, tuning, instrument and playback options, accompaniment style, tempo, and display settings for chords and scales.
- Purchase status: product and entitlement information returned by Google Play Billing so the App can unlock purchased features.
This information is used only to operate the App. We do not receive your locally stored songs, phrases, or preferences.
2. On-Device Chord Suggestions
GuitarHub’s chord suggestion and progression features run on a machine-learning model and music-theory rules that are bundled with the App and executed locally on your device. The chords and progressions you enter are not sent to us or to any third-party AI service.
3. Audio Playback
GuitarHub plays chords, strums, and accompaniment using sound samples that are included in the App. Playback may continue while the App is in the background so you can keep practicing. Background playback shows a media notification with playback controls; on Android 13 and later the App may ask for permission to show notifications, and you can decline. The notification is created on your device and is not used to send you messages. The App does not request microphone access and does not record your voice, instrument, or ambient audio.
4. Local Storage and Deletion
Your songs, phrases, custom fingerings, and preferences remain in the App’s local storage until you delete them in the App, delete the App, or erase the device. Your device’s own backups (for example, Google’s backup service for Android, if you have enabled it) may include the App’s data; those backups are handled by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy.
GuitarHub does not sync your songs between devices. Restoring purchases on another device restores your Pro access, not your songs.
5. Purchases and Subscriptions
GuitarHub offers monthly and annual auto-renewable subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase (“GuitarHub Pro”). All billing, payment credentials, refunds, subscription management, and purchase history are handled by Google through Google Play. We do not receive or store your card number or full payment details.
The App receives limited transaction information from Google Play, such as product identifier, purchase token, entitlement status, and verified purchase status, solely to provide, restore, and manage access to Pro features. Google provides us only with aggregated sales and usage reports that do not identify you personally. Google’s handling of payment and Google Play information is governed by Google’s policies.
6. Information You Choose to Share
If you contact us by email, we receive the email address, message, attachments, and other information you choose to provide. We use it to answer your request, provide support, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.
If you have allowed your device to share usage and diagnostics with Google, Google Play may provide us with aggregated, anonymized crash and performance statistics (Android vitals). We use it only to find and fix problems in the App.
7. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
GuitarHub does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, does not create advertising profiles, and does not track you across apps or websites. We do not sell or share personal information.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App can be used without creating an account or submitting personal information to us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our support address, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
9. Security
We design GuitarHub to minimize data collection and to keep processing on-device. No method of storage is completely secure, so you should protect access to your device and keep backups of songs that are important to you.
10. Your Choices
- You can delete songs, phrases, and custom fingerings inside the App at any time.
- You can remove all App data by deleting the App from your device.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions, and restore eligible purchases through the App.
- You can turn off usage and diagnostics sharing in your device’s Google settings.

- You can contact us to ask about support information you previously sent by email.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, legal requirements, or our practices. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
